Miguel Padilla Chinguel’s award-winning coffee is back, and it’s more delicious than ever. The light roast profile is floral and tart, with lingering aromatics to unify the sweeter notes of buttercream and peach. This delightfully modern roast sings with a delicate harmony of tropical and citrus flavors, highlighted by a natural sugarcane sweetness. We've been careful to avoid levels of caramelization that would rob this Geisha-Bourbon of its strong floral impact.
It's always an incredible morning that starts with Miguel's coffee. This is a washed-process blend of Geisha and Bourbon varieties, grown at nearly 1900 meters in Cajamarca, Peru. Two of coffees' most celebrated varietals blend well for an interesting, flavorful cup of coffee that can be cherished all morning and afternoon.
Miguel’s coffee is for people who love coffee. It might remind fans of their favorite cup of our Justice Blend, but with a lighter body and more nuanced sweetness. Whether you’re a casual drinker or a methodical home barista, this one’s a showstopper—reliable, elegant, and satisfying from the first sip to the last.
We first purchased coffee from Miguel in 2024, and it was love at first roast. That year, his lot earned 3rd place in Peru’s national Golden Cup competition hosted by the Coordinadora Nacional de Comercio Justo—an incredible honor awarded to Fair Trade cooperatives across the country. Last year, Miguel’s Caturra, Bourbon, Geisha blend earned him first place at the Peru Cup of Excellence with a rare score of over 90 points, putting his name at the top of the pyramid in terms of coffee quality in Peru. We're lucky to be able to share this with you.
We hold up our Apex Series as the highest expression of what’s possible in coffee—and Miguel’s lot humbles us with its unbeatably delicious expression of complex flavors. It’s an honor to share this coffee and the name of the farmer who grew it, prominently featured on every Gold Label bag. The Apex Series isn’t just about roasting great coffee. It’s about honoring our Farmer Partners, and recognizing the skill, intention, and tradition behind each exceptional cup.

Each bag prominently features the names of our Farmer Partners, highlighting our responsibility and privilege to elevate these artisans. Their expertise, often honed over multiple generations, is crucial to the exceptional coffee we produce together. Every cup is as much their creation as it is ours.
